Robert Mueller indicts three members of Trump's campaign in almost unprecedented day of White House drama | The Independent Five months after he was appointed to lead the investigation after Mr Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, Robert Mueller announced 12 charges , including money laundering and conspiracy to defraud the US, against former campaign manager Paul Manafort and associate Rick Gates. Also, George Papadopoulos admitted lying to the FBI when being questioned about his contact with two Russians with apparent close ties to their government. Mr Papadopoulos’s guilty plea – coming hours ahead of Mr Manafort’s and Mr Gates’s court appearance – made him the first Trump campaign official to face charges relating to links to Russian contacts.

Scientists Have Discovered a Material that Could Store Quantum Information - ScienceAlert "Due to these particular geometries, the spins of electrons never freeze. They keep jiggling around without ever being able to freeze and form a magnet, which is the natural tendency of the material. This phenomenon is called 'magnetic frustration'." The unusual phase occupied by this material is known as quantum spin liquid . The spins of electrons in the magnets we encounter in day-to-day life are all frozen in the same direction. In spin liquids, they're never frozen, even if their temperature reaches absolute zero . This allows for some unusual traits, like a phenomenon known as long-range entanglement where the quantum state of one particle is paired with another non-adjacent particle.

All signs point to a corporate takeover of the marijuana industry by Bayer, Monsanto Germany-based Bayer purchased the seed giant Monsanto for $66 billion. The merger is reported to be the largest all-cash deal on record. That means a lot of things, none of them good for consumers. It strengthens the monopolization of the world’s food supply, more genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and more chemicals to be doused on them. Now, some are predicting the merge could also mean the takeover of the marijuana industry.

Watch Ari Berman Explain How Voter Suppression Handed Wisconsin to Trump – Mother Jones Mother Jones senior reporter Ari Berman on Sunday sat down with MSNBC’s Joy Reid to discuss Farr’s controversial nomination, as well as Berman’s recent cover story examining how similar voter suppression measures effectively handed the crucial state of Wisconsin to Trump in the 2016 election. “If we don’t learn this lesson, if we don’t learn the lesson that voter suppression works and you have to fight to protect the right to vote, history is going to repeat itself in 2018 and 2020,” he told Reid.

'Exchanging Prohibition for Extreme Regulation': Toronto Braces for New Cannabis Reality | Leafly “I can tell you that many cops are not very excited about these raids and realize that it’s really a very low policing priority. This is being pushed from above. Dispensaries have been operating openly in Toronto for about 20 years and no one cared too much about them until we started to get closer to legalization. Ironically, it’s on the eve of legalization, when the government announces their plans for legal cannabis, that they want to launch an enforcement summit to shut down dispensaries? They’re most concerned now? When it’s about to be legal? Which really tells you what their priorities about. They’ve got this public health fig leaf that they are trying to hold up but it’s not about public health, it’s about them making money and protecting their turf.”

Jamaican Study Gives Surprising Insight Into Marijuana During Pregnancy Dr. Dreher and her team compared babies of Jamaican women who smoked marijuana during pregnancy and those who did not. The researchers tested infants on a variety of functions one, three, and 30 days after birth. Their findings were surprising: cannabis-exposed babies scored significantly higher in their reflex tests as well as tests of basic functions like blood pressure and heart rate. The infants of cannabis-using moms were also less irritable and more alert.

The war on coal is over. The war on breathing has begun. - Baltimore Sun Burning coal produces large quantities of air pollution, including mercury, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. And that’s not even counting the carbon dioxide, methane and other greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change. That isn’t conjecture, it’s scientific fact. The only way electricity created by burning coal can be regarded as “cheap” is to ignore these human costs — to effectively subsidize the grid by ignoring premature death, asthma attacks and billions in medical expenses.
